Step 1 — Choosing Your New Boiler
Before the fitting day, you'll choose your new boiler. Our online boiler finder asks a few simple questions about your home — number of bedrooms, bathrooms and your current heating setup — and recommends the right boiler for your property. You can also call 07305 687 331 and one of our advisors will help you choose.
Key decisions to make when choosing your new boiler:
- Brand — We fit Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Alpha and Viessmann. Worcester Bosch offers the longest warranties (up to 12 years) but Baxi and Alpha offer excellent value at lower price points
- Output (kW) — Matched to your home's size and hot water demand. Our tool calculates this automatically
- Combi, system or heat-only — Most homes are best suited to a combi boiler. Larger homes with multiple bathrooms may benefit from a system boiler
Step 2 — Booking Your Fitting
Once you've chosen your boiler and accepted your fixed price, we'll book your fitting date. In most cases across Greater Manchester, fitting is available within 24 hours. You'll receive a confirmation with your engineer's name, arrival window and a reminder the evening before.
Things to do before the fitting day:
- Make sure someone over 18 will be home for the full day
- Clear a reasonable working space around the boiler and access route
- Know the location of your stopcock (mains water tap) — your engineer will show you if you don't
- Consider turning your heating on briefly the morning of the fitting so engineers can see any issues with the existing system
Step 3 — The Fitting Day
Your engineers will arrive in the agreed time window — typically morning. Here's what you can expect throughout the day:
- Morning: Engineers arrive, introduce themselves and carry out a brief system check. Protective sheets are laid. The system is drained and the old boiler removed
- Mid-morning to midday: The new boiler is positioned, mounted and all pipework connections made. The new flue is fitted through the wall
- Afternoon: Chemical flush of the central heating system, MagnaClean filter fitted, Hive thermostat installed
- Late afternoon: The new boiler is fired up and commissioned. All radiators and hot water outlets tested. Paperwork completed — Gas Safe certificate issued
- End of day: Engineer handover — we walk you through your new boiler controls and Hive thermostat before leaving
Will there be mess? Our engineers work tidily and take all packaging and the old boiler away with them. We leave your home as we found it.
Step 4 — After Your New Boiler is Fitted
Once your new boiler is fitted and commissioned, here's what happens next:
- Warranty registration — We register your boiler warranty with the manufacturer on your behalf. You'll receive confirmation directly from the manufacturer
- Gas Safe certificate — Your installation certificate is issued on the day. Keep this safe — you'll need it if you sell your home or make an insurance claim
- Annual servicing — To maintain your warranty, your new boiler must be serviced annually. We offer annual boiler servicing from £80. Ask about our care plans for added peace of mind
- Hive thermostat setup — Download the Hive app and follow the instructions. Your new Hive Mini Smart Thermostat lets you control your heating remotely from anywhere
