Understanding Your Boiler Warranty: What's Covered and What Isn't

A boiler warranty is only as good as the conditions attached to it. Here's what's actually covered, what can void it, and how to protect your investment.

What Does a 10-Year Boiler Warranty Actually Cover?

A parts and labour warranty means the manufacturer — or the installer if they offer their own warranty — will pay for the cost of both parts and the engineer's time if your boiler develops a covered fault. This is significantly better than a parts-only warranty, which leaves you paying engineer call-out charges even on covered repairs.

At Next Gen Boilers, every installation we carry out comes with a 10-year parts and labour warranty regardless of the brand we fit. This means zero cost to you for any covered fault within that period — no call-out fee, no parts charge, no labour cost.

What Can Void Your Boiler Warranty?

The most common warranty invalidators are: failure to have the boiler serviced annually (most manufacturers require this); having the boiler repaired by a non-Gas Safe registered engineer; installing a boiler without a magnetic filter (which protects the heat exchanger from sludge); and fitting the boiler onto a heavily contaminated system without a prior power flush.

All of these are things we address proactively at Next Gen Boilers. Every installation includes a magnetic filter and chemical flush. We register your boiler with the manufacturer on installation day. We also offer annual service reminders to help you keep up with servicing requirements.

Annual Servicing: The Key Condition

Every major boiler manufacturer — Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Alpha, Viessmann — requires annual servicing as a condition of their extended warranty. Miss a year and you may technically be in breach of the warranty terms, meaning future claims could be rejected.

Our annual boiler service costs £80 and takes around an hour. We'll send you a reminder when it's due. For maximum peace of mind, our care plans include annual servicing as standard — starting from £14.99/month — so you never have to think about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a boiler warranty cover labour costs?

Our 10-year warranty is a parts and labour warranty, meaning you pay nothing for covered repairs — no call-out fee, no parts charge, no labour cost.

What happens if I miss an annual service?

Missing a service may technically void your manufacturer warranty. Our annual service (£80) keeps you compliant. Our care plans include this automatically.

Who do I call if my boiler breaks down under warranty?

Call us directly on 07305 687 331. For Next Gen Boilers warranty claims, we handle the repair. For manufacturer warranty claims after our warranty period, contact the manufacturer directly.

Does fitting a smart thermostat void the warranty?

No. Fitting a compatible smart thermostat does not void your boiler warranty, provided the thermostat is installed correctly by a qualified engineer.

What is not covered by a standard boiler warranty?

Accidental damage, misuse, system contamination after installation, frost damage, and faults caused by unqualified work are typically excluded. Annual servicing missed is the most common coverage issue.
